Headstone Survey - St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery
This is a partial transcript of the headstones at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Cemetery that I did during the summer of 1998. I transcribed only those headstones that had surnames or individuals known to be connected to my own research. There were many more that I did not include in my survey.
There are, in effect, two cemeteries at Grand River. The "old" cemetery, located behind the church and parochial house, has not been used since 1881 but there are a number of stones still located there. The "new" cemetery, located across the road from the church, is the larger of the two sections and is still in use today. For the purpose of this survey, I have not made any distinction between the two.
Although the basic information is the same as written on the headstones, the format has been changed. Please note that most of the "Mc" surnames were transcribed as "Mac" instead (a bad habit of mine that has since been stopped). Please confirm the exact spelling of any "Mc" or "Mac" surnames with the original stones.
I have made every attempt to ensure the accuracy of this data. However, errors are possible, and any errors are mine. I will gladly accept any corrections to this information. Please refer to the originals for confirmation.
