Genealogical Research
Important Notice: Effective 19 September 2005, and until further notice, I will be unable to undertake any new research projects. Unfortunately, the time constraints of work, family, and other commitments, for the time being, will not permit me to dedicate an appropriate and adequate amount of time to professional genealogical research contracts.
Whether you want to locate a single document, or compile a multi-generational family history, I can assist you with all of your genealogical research needs.
I offer reasonable rates and a professional product:
- No minimum charge - I charge only for the time required, be it one hour, one day or one week.
- No time limit - I'm willing to work with you for as long as necessary. No project is too big or too small!
- "Research" the research - Before starting your project I will - free-of-charge - examine your information to determine: (a) if the required sources are available; (b) approximately how much information can be expected, and; (c) provide an estimate of time expected to complete the research.
- Effective communication - I will keep in touch with you through every step of the process. You will be informed of the research completed, results obtained, and options for further research, if desired.
- Professional report - Upon completion of the research (or at intermediate stages for longer projects) I will provide you with a professional report detailing the resources examined, documents and information obtained, and options for further or future research. Reports can be in hard-copy or electronic (MS Word, RTF, or PDF) format.
Utilizing the resources at the Centre d'études acadiennes (Acadian Studies Center), Université de Moncton, I can research Acadian and other Maritime families. They offer the majority of the Catholic Parish registers and census data for all three Maritime provinces, as well as a host of other documents and sources (a detailed listing of some of their PEI holdings is posted elsewhere on this site at PEI Resources at the CEA).
Through inter-library loan, I can access many of the microfilm holdings of the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick and the National Archives of Canada (please note there is a delay of 4 to 6 weeks in receiving films).
I am willing to travel to Fredericton and Charlottetown for direct research at the NB and PEI Provincial Archives. Please note that extra charges will apply to cover travel costs.
For further information, please contact me.
Please Note: I will only undertake research projects for families located within the geographical confines of Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. The size and scope of any project is subject to the resources available to me.
